New Apple iPhone 4S Revealed

After months of speculation, many consumers have been anticipating the announcement of Apple’s latest gadget.   Many individuals were hoping that Apple would be announcing the newest addition to the apple iphone collection, the Apple iphone 5.  However, many were surprised to hear that it was not releasing the Apple iphone 5 like they had thought but instead Apple announced the release of the iphone 4S.

The Apple iphone 4S looks very similar to the iphone 4, but according to Apple there are some major differences between the Apple iphone 4 and the Apple iphone 4S.

Here is a list of just some of these differences:

One of the most exciting features for the Apple iphone 4S is the new mobile software known as AirPlay.  The  AirPlay software allows users to Sync content on your phone wirelessly without having to plug it in to your computer.  Users can wirelessly stream what is on their iphone to an ipad, ipod touch or HDTV via Apple TV.  This will allow users to see whatever is on their phone in a much larger way.  Exciting right!

Those using their phones for games and apps will enjoy the phone’s much faster processor. It will feature a Dual-core A5 chip.  These two powerful cores make playing games, browsing the web and enjoying apps much easier.  An added benefit will be an extended battery life do to the efficiency of the dual-core processor.

The iphone 4S has a much better camera with a higher resolution.  The new phone has an 8MP with all new optics will also shoot 1080p HD video.

Verizon users will be happy to hear that the new iphone 4S is a World Phone.  This means users will be able to use their phones overseas right along with AT&T users.

The price will have everybody excited and will only cost around $200.00 with a contract.

Sprint users will be excited to hear that they will now be able to purchase an Apple iphone.

Sprint has agreed to purchase over 30 million iphones over the next 4 years.

Sprint Customes will be able to choose the iphone 3GS, the iphone 4 and the new iphone 4S.

Consumers can expect to pay around $200.00 with a 2 year contract.

Motorola Xoom

When the  Motorola Xoom was released on February 24, 2011, it was hoping to be a top competitor for the Apple ipad, and so far it seems to be giving the Apple ipad a run for its money.   The device has some great features and provides one of the best tablet experience available.

Th MOTOROLA XOOM with Wi-Fi 10.1″ Tablet screen is slightly bigger than the iPad2 which measures 9.8-inch .  It has a large touch screen display with the easy to use pinch-to zoom navigation.  Motorola Xoom has built in ambient sensor that automatically adjusts the brightness according to your surrounding lighting conditions.

The Xoom has stereo speakers on the back side of the tablet which are unexpectedly loud with relatively clear sound quality.  It also has additional features and innovative technology to deliver hassle free communication.

The Motorola Xoom has great hardware and support for the software is increasing as the devise becomes more popular.  It has a updated version of YouTube as to provide plenty of interaction while you’re watching a video

You will not be able to charge the Motorola Xoom with a standard micro USB chargers or USB, and requires its own branded charger.  Motorola Xoom has a wide range of optional accessories to expand its power and capabilities.  It has stirred up the public since its release last Feb 24, 2011.  It has a dual LED flash.  It has arguably been the many widely-hyped-tech-product-not-made-by-Apple in the past year.  Motorola Xoom is as good if not better than iPad in many ways.

The camera on the Xoom is made more powerful with the Auto focus feature.  It has a 5 megapixel rear main camera with dual LED flash and autofocus lens.  The camera app on the Xoom is easy to use and mostly familiar for Android users.  The camera also shoots 720p video that comes out pretty good in daylight, but below average with lots of digital noise in low-lighting conditions. The color transfer could be much better and if you stand too close to the subject of the photo it can get washed out by the flash.

A nice feature about the camera is that there is a camera on the Xoom that can also be used in a similar fashion secondary 2 MP camera that you can use for video calls using Google Talk over N WiFi similar to FaceTime on the ipad.

The Motorola Xoom introduced an innovative user interface that was designed for the tablet.

Although the Honeycomb is nowhere near as refined as iOS for the iPad it is becoming a widely accepted OS and is a but we love its widgets, notifications, and multitasking capabilities.  It is a giant step forward from Froyo, providing more tablet-centric interface, additional widgets, and an exceptional Chrome-like browsing experience and is a huge step toward making the Android more tablet-friendly.

As with most new technology Honeycomb still has some fine tuning to do and still has a way to go but it is still a detailed tablet-optimized OS that has quite a few apps and getting more everyday as more users switch over to this tablet

The Motorola Xoom is not a cheaper clone version of the iPad; and was never being marketed as an inexpensive tablet substitute for the Apple iPad but a strong competitor.  Motorola Xoom cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $500.00

Is a Tablet Right for You

Ever since the Apple iPad was released it seems to have sparked huge interest in devices that have been labeled tablet PC’s.

Lots of different manufacturers are now jumping into the marketplace offering their own take on this relatively new PC genre.

For those of you who may not have heard of this phenomena PC tablets, it is basically a PC that is just one big touch screen. They don’t usually have a physical keyboard, data entry being handled through a virtual keyboard accessed through the touchscreen. If you don’t like this idea – and it can take some getting used to – there are tablet pcs available that have slide-out keyboards. The
Apple iPad 2 with Wi-Fi – 16GB – Black also has a separate physical keyboard with real keys available as an optional extra.

The real advantage to these new additions to the personal computer family is portability. They are generally less bulky and lighter than their notebook or netbook brethren and therefore easier to carry around in a bag or pocket.

That brings us on to the other undoubted advantage that touchscreen tablets have over every other kind of pc – you can get them in much smaller sizes, some of which are definitely pocketable.

You can get them with screen sizes as small as 5 inches which is definitely small enough to fit into the average trouser or jacket pocket even when they’re in a case.

The most popular size at the moment with most manufactures appears to be the 7 inch screen model. This seems to have been settled on as a size that offers the ideal compromise between usability and portability. The size that Apple have gone with – 10 inches – although 10″ isn’t the most popular size with consumers, there are a few other manufactures who make a 10″ screen.

What size is right for you? You’ll have to find that out for yourself with a bit of experimentation. Obviously, the smaller the device, the easier it is to carry around with you. But the downside of the smaller, 5 inch screen devices is that they are harder on the eyes when it comes to reading text. They all have a zooming in ability which is usually accessed by putting a finger and a thumb on the touchscreen and moving them apart, so this alleviates the potential eyestrain to some extent.

Other downsides? Well, tablet pcs are not yet ready to fully take over from other forms of personal computer, but if you want the convenience of an Internet browsing device that allows you to view full Websites in a way that your smartphone does not, a tablet pc may be just right for you. If you add on the fact that all of your favorite smartphone applications tend to be available on tablet pcs (and most tablets also do double up as mobile phones – albeit rather large ones), the fact that you can listen to mp3s on them, watch videos and read ebooks, they could just prove to be your ideal mobile companion.
